PURPOSE There are a lot of students who have a lack of understanding pertaining to the events that led up to the Trail of Tears. So, the purpose of this Wiki, with the help of multimedia that includes video clips with audio, pictures, a student discussion corner, day one introduction, instructions for days two through five that include assignments, and a teachers help desk, is to introduce a race and tribe that is completely new and different from their own -- the Cherokee Native American Indian -- and what this tribe was subjected to during that long, long, walk full of hunger, sorrow, misery, pain, destruction, and death. This History lesson plan is now for grade levels 6-8, the handicapped, and individuals with special needs.
STAKEHOLDERS
The stakeholders will include administrators, teachers, students in grade levels 6-8, the handicapped, individuals with special needs, and parents (where necessary). These stakeholders will have access to and be involved in any and all of the aspects of this Wiki which will include: viewing, input, creating new pages, research, addition of new material, pictures, video clips, changes, ideas, suggestions, opinions, comments, criticism, questions, and contents of this topic.
While parents will not be involved in the creation or editing of the information included within the Wiki, they will, of course, be allowed to view the material, the progress of the Wiki, the progress of their child (in the Discussion Corner under Teacher's Discussion), and be allowed to submit their suggestions, opinions, comments, ideas, or criticism.
